My client on this piece wanted to commemorate overcoming a heart condition while incorporating two virtues important to her in her life. I used this as a chance to get to do some torches, a tattoo element I love but rarely get the chance to do. I put a palm frond in the middle of the coffin shape, as palms signify an inner peacefulness while also being a symbol of martyrdom and being indicative of Florida.
